![]() The components of the A-9 NLG are made with safe life design philosophy, hence are stressed by their ultimate bending strength. The gear is attached to the aircraft structure with two main pivot points attached to the main housing of the gear. ![]() The bogie track of 0.58m affords enough room for maintainability. The design features a drag strut divided into an upper and lower section which folds on retraction whilst pulling the gear up. The nose gear is characterized by a single acting oleo strut with a total stroke of 0.354m and a static closure of 0.29m. ![]() ![]() Steering is achieved with push pull linear actuators achieving an effective steering angle of 60. The nose gear is forward retracted with a single actuator. The A-9 undercarriage is the conventional tricycle type with dual nose bogie tires. The all up mass is particularly less when compared to aircraft of similar seat capacity and standing. The design take off mass of the A-9 is 126670 kg with a seating capacity of 270 passengers. The box wing configuration is a peculiar one especially in the class of transport aircraft. The previous work serves as a base line specification for this design. This work brings to light the conceptual design work previously done for the A-9 Box Wing Medium Range Airliner.
